Overview of Advanced Training

Hakomi advanced training is designed for students who wish to further their Hakomi skills. It is open to professionals who wish to become certified Hakomi therapists and for non-professionals seeking and ready for a life changing therapeutic and personal growth experience.

In either case, participants find that advanced training combines skills training and personal growth in a profound and inseparable way. Personal growth is emphasized because Hakomi skills are not simply techniques. Hakomi skills are effective only when applied with calmness, patience,  presence, mindfulness, and compassion even in the presence of clients who are experiencing discomfort and strong emotions.

Certification as a Hakomi therapist or practitioner is earned on a case by case basis and must be established by two Hakomi trainers who come to agreement that the required degree of mastery has been achieved. Candidates for certification will need to have completed at least one Level II training, and would benefit from additional training and supervision, as well as many hours of practice outside the training; however, people are usually certified after completion of the entire Level Two training and after attendance at two or more Supervision sessions. Please see Hakomi Trainings – an Overview, at the end of this letter, for detailed information on the training and certification process.
