Hakomi Education Network

The Hakomi Educational Network is an international service association comprised of counselors, teachers, psychotherapists and workshop leaders. Our members are dedicated to promoting consciousness and compassion in human relations throughout the world. We teach Hakomi principles and practices through experiential workshops, seminars and trainings.

Specifically, we teach intra- and interpersonal emotional and relational skills, based on the Hakomi experiential method. This teaching is offered primarily in group settings. We also offer full trainings for professionals and highly motivated students. In addition, our work is shared through books, articles, video tapes, and several websites.

Four basic workshops are offered, for the public and for special groups. They are done in various countries in North and South America, Europe and Japan. The four basic workshops are:

  1. Compassionate Listening (Also presented as The Practice of Loving Presence)
  2. Quieting the Mind
  3. Empathetic Attunement (also presented as Nonverbal Communication)
  4. The Art of Comforting (also presented as The Art of Nourishing Relationships)

In Seattle we also offer a workshop entitled Compassion in Action which is a one day introduction to the Workshop Series.

The workshops are led by trained teachers who come from various professional backgrounds, including teachers, psychotherapists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, educators, ministers and others.

The workshops are designed to be offered to a wide variety of special interest groups, such as parents, hospice workers, medical professionals, terminally ill patients, adolescents, teachers, counselors, social workers, community leaders, and of course, the public. They are given in a variety of settings and formats, including schools, hospitals, prisons, community agencies, and impoverished areas. They are intended always to promote a deep understanding of the work and as a training ground for future workshop leaders.

These same workshops are also offered as the first phase of training in the Hakomi Method of Psychotherapy.
